He is an imposing, resilient, and unstoppable presence, associated with overcoming obstacles and protecting those who face difficult paths. His nature embodies determination, courage, and the ability to keep moving through hardship without losing solidity. In this sense, Agayú is considered a symbol of concrete strength and survival, a power that refuses to be intimidated by the chaos of the world.

In the Orishas Tarot

In the Orishas Tarot, Agayú is interpreted as a psychic archetype rather than as a literal mythological figure. The key to this reading comes from his traditional attribute of “liquid fire,” which exists in two distinct states.

Beneath the feet, it is lava: incandescent matter that shapes the ground, the primordial support of life. In this form, liquid fire becomes concreteness, grounding, reality, and the ability to confront what is tangible and verifiable.

Above the head, liquid fire becomes the stars, (or the suns) as separation from darkness. The light that illuminates, warms, and separates forms from shadows. In this form, it becomes clarity, understanding, discernment, and the ability to see and understand what would otherwise remain confused.

From this dual nature comes my symbolic interpretation: Agayú is the archetype that unites concreteness and clarity, reality and reason, grounding and mental light. I am not interested in the angry giant of popular tradition, but in the psychological value of liquid fire that illuminates and supports.

On this basis, Agayú becomes the part of the psyche that investigates, orders, distinguishes, and communicates. He is logic, analysis, rhetoric, precision, critical thinking, and intellectual honesty. He is the exact opposite of superstition, ambiguity, and emotional confusion.

Where he operates

Agayú operates in the territories of the analytical mind and of clear language: in research, explanation, argumentation, reconstruction of facts, and discernment between true and false. He is present whenever it is necessary to understand, to bring order, to establish causal connections, to find concrete solutions, and to dismantle illusions or deceptions. He intervenes in disputes, in communication, in science, in justice, and in every field where reality must be examined without distortion.

When he takes shape in a person

When Agayú takes shape in a person, he appears as a deep need to understand how things really are. This energy is recognizable in the ability to observe without being overwhelmed by emotional reaction, in the desire to verify, study, and argue, and in the pleasure of communicating with precision. The Agayú person seeks clarity, builds mental maps, organizes information, and often acts as a mediator between chaos and understanding.

When the energy of Agayú becomes excessive, the light becomes blinding and erases depth. In this shadow, creativity dries up and mystery is treated as an error rather than as a possibility.
