WHO AM I

I don't think it's interesting to tell you the story of my life, but I think it's important to give you some indications about why I do what I do. I was born in Italy, studied archeology in Genoa and later attended the performing arts school in London. Then I moved to Spain where I currently live and work. I have always had a passion for writing and for visual arts, so much so that for a while I thought I would like to be a writer. Then I chose art. Why? Because a picture is worth a thousand words. Images have a symbolic power capable of traveling globally, with no need for translations. But since the passion for writing hasn't died out, I like to tell the meaning of the images I create and this is my propose in doing this blog. I was born into a mixed family, where the fatherly figure was represented by an African man who had filled the house with idols and sacred fetishes, Gods of the harvest made of straw, snake skins and stuffed crocodiles, and on the other side, a European atheist and materialist woman who used to go to sleep reading Cicero. Bizarre isn't it? Needless to say, their union ended up in a divorce! Me, on the other hand, I have always been at work to build the bridge that connects these two worlds: the folkloric, magical-symbolic world of archaic cultures, with the more elaborate, logical-rational one of "evolved" societies. This objective is the basis of my artistic creations, it's the basis of the paintings and prints that you will find on the site and obviously, it's the basis for the creation of the Orishas Tarot.
